Q: How long is the MAP class?

A: Class is from Tuesday - Thursday from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Plan to arrive on Monday and depart on Friday.

A: The MAP training will be at the Carté Hotel San Diego Downtown, 401 W. Ash St., San Diego, CA 92101; (619) 546-9600.

A: The Carté Hotel San Diego Downtown Hotel is 2.7 miles from San Diego International Airport (SAN).

Q: What is the cost?

A: The class is free.

Q: Do I need to register for a room at the hotel?

A: No, SMOHIT will reserve a room for you and send out a confirmation email after registration for SMART MAP San Diego closes in September. We will pay only for the nights of the conference, Monday – Thursday nights. If you would like to arrive earlier or stay later, you will need to reserve and pay for those room nights separately.

Q: Do I need to bring a credit card or debit card?

A: Yes, a credit or debit card is required at check-in for incidentals charged to the room. 

Q: Does SMOHIT pay per diem?

A: No.

Q: Does SMOHIT pay for transportation?

A: No. You, your JATC, or other sponsor are responsible for the cost of travel to and from class.

Q: Do I need to check in for the meeting?

A: No check-in is necessary. Please be in the meeting room several minutes before 8:00 on Tuesday so we can begin on time.

Q: Where is the meeting?

A: We will meet in the Amici room each day.

Q: What food is included?

A: Tuesday – Thursday, SMOHIT will provide breakfast and lunch in the Branzino dining room, and snacks. On Wednesday, the group has dinner at a local restaurant. Any other food is your responsibility.

Q: What should I wear?

A: We encourage a nice shirt, comfortable pants and closed toe shoes. Dinner on Wednesday is business casual.

Q: Is there a fee for parking?

A: Yes, SMOHIT has negotiated a rate of $40 per night for valet parking. Self-parking is not available.
