Course Objective:
“This course is designed to build an awareness around the national health epidemic of substance use disorder and other mental health problems, including thoughts of suicide, and to construct a support network of compassionate union members and mental health experts for our members and their families who are facing these life challenging difficulties.”

The 16-hour SMART MAP Peer Training course provides an in-depth overview of eight content areas including: Substance Use Disorder, Process/Behavioral Addictions, Community Support, 12 Step Recovery and Religion, Treatment Recommendations, Confidentiality and Ethics, Suicide Prevention, Intervention and Crisis Response, and SMART MAP Support.
