Charles Austin collaborates with SMOHIT staff, regional coordinators, and health professionals to develop safety and health training materials, direct research, and consult on local and national issues related to environmental, safety, and health concerns. He also conducts training for OSHA courses. Charles performs audits, inspections, and testing on various health and safety topics in an effort to focus attention on these issues throughout the sheet metal industry.
Mr. Austin collaborates with all stakeholders with the sheet metal industry on developing safety and health training materials, wellness program, project management, directing research, sustainability, and assisting union locals on issues related to environmental, safety, and health concerns. In this role he has help launch expansive development of digital, online, and mobile application programs focusing on environmental, health and safety, and wellness training programs. Mr. Austin is responsible for occupational and environmental health research, technical and subject matter expert, compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOE, and MSHA regulations, training, testing, develop metrics, exposures and personal protective equipment assessments. Mr. Austin graduated with a Master’s of Science degree in Environmental and Occupational Health Sciences from Hunter College School of Health Sciences.
